Social Media in the Great Commission

As youth leaders, and Christians as a whole, we have a responsibility to our students and friends to share the Gospel in everything that we do.

Our youth group recently changed its name to Generation 412.  We are taking this idea of setting an example for Christians that Paul speaks of in 1 Timothy 4:12 a step further to set an example for all men of who Christ is and what He wants to do in all of our lives.  This means that every keystroke, YouTube post, word, deed, and even thought is meant to bring glory to God alone and show the world God’s love.

We are an interesting generation.  We are referred to as the Millennial Generation, Generation Y, or sometimes just those young whipper snappers, but the point is that our generation is the largest in recorded history and the only generation where one post online can reach someone on the other side of the world.  We MUST NOT take this opportunity lightly!  We were commanded by Jesus to

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in[b] the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matt 28:19-20)

God has given us these tools to effectively reach the whole world at one time.  God has allowed us to be born in this time for a reason.  As the day of judgement draws near, we must use EVERY opportunity we have to lift high the name of Jesus to a lost and dying world!  We must use Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and any other available resource to proclaim the Gospel every chance we get.  After the jump there is a video that a great man of God made to help us understand our social media responsibilities.
